Drifts and Echoes
Let’s not forget that you:
Promised forever,
Declared I was the best,
And swore there was no way to ever leave me…
But you’ve just decided to push it aside.
I know you haven’t forgotten, but for as long as you live, I hope it haunts you.
That my pleading voice drifts in and out of your ears, at the times when you’re most vulnerable.
That the taste of my mouth takes over any other flavor whenever you’re kissing another person.
That your lies echo in your head, and burn your throat, whenever you say the same thing to someone other than me.
I sincerely hope that each new person you hold in your arms,
breaks your heart three times worse than you broke mine;
because maybe then, you could try to understand just how it felt to me,
to lose
you.
